JW Marketing

the way the jw religion markets itself often intrigues me.

needless to say one of the most powerful marketing tools, the internet, is giving more hindrance than help to the wts.. i'm suprised that the organisation still sticks with the basic door to door sales approach, which more often than not irritates people, and that they push their message primarily with rather crude magazines.

i'm sure the magazines have to be basic and cheap to maintain profit margins, but in a more sophisticated media dominated world do they really think that cheesy drawings of people cuddling tigers in front of waterfalls is a good sell?

My point is that the Society seems disinclined to constantly look at and reinforce its brand, and that the brand image is stale. This like many businesses will confirm could help put it "out of business".
I'm looking at it from a British perspective though. Is the WTS more imaginative in say the US? Is there a JW cable channel, do they hand out DVDs on the door, do they mass mail drop etc? I've only found out through this forum that they do Telesales.

That's an interesting thought. No, they haven't kept up with the times over here.

For the most part anyway. I have heard a few people say that they saw a commercial here or there. They do what they call "phone witnessing" and letter writing. I admit, I did some letter writing.

I think they try to stay away from doing things that members of Christendom get involved in. I.e. things like their own DubVision television station, Mass Market invitations to the Sunday Talk. ....

That could be very interesting.

We never know how our words or actions will affect others.
For people that have seen the movie...what did you get out of it ?

Think ripple effect. The smallest decision you make in your life, smiling at a stranger and saying hello to recycling, has much larger consequences then what we see, hear or experience first hand.

There is a 3 fold law in Wicca, what you do for better or worse, will come back to you 3 fold. If you keep that sort of attitude, it's amazing how your perspective changes.

Also, try as we might to be awesome wonderful human beings, we aren't perfect. We make mistakes constantly. We can't see the future, be it immediate or in the distance. We can do our best and stay aware and constantly learn and grow.

Yeah, you made the decision to become a JW, you thought that was the best thing for you at that time. Maybe for who you were, it was. You just did not know the effect it would have.

Since we can only guess what the effect of our actions might be, we can only do/try our best at making the right decisions and continue growing from those experiences.

Maybe it teaches us a greater lesson of forgiveness and mercy.

Great, great movie. And Ashton Kutcher is so cute. I really thought that movie deserved awards.

They told me to send them a letter

i called the wtbt$ service department yesterday afternoon and mentioned that in times past the brothers would enter into public forums with members of christendom to prove their doctrines false.

the publications always stated that the brothers always won these open discussions by refuting christendom's doctrines by using only the bible.

i then challenged the wtbt$ to meet me on an open forum to discuss the following subjects:.

Breakthrough with JW mother - Stunning Anti Witness !

i thought i would share this with you as i am still a little bit stunned to say the least.

my mother who is a longstanding jw came to stay over the christmas period as my uncle had past away and she wanted to be more local to the family, that way she could attend the funeral and provide some support to her remaining brothers and sisters.

she lives a considerable distance away from me at this moment in time.

What if Tyrannosaurus Rex still existed?

zach (my 7 year old) and i were playing with his dinosaurs last night.

he has a 2 foot long rubber t-rex with huge teeth and claws.

i turned it to him, opened the mouth wide, and said "roar!".

What would it be like if they still existed? What would we do? Would we try to kill them all off? Would we cordone them into some fenced area? If so, how?
We'd have to do something. We couldn't let them run around free or it would be impossible to live safely.

They'd be killed off. Then since I'm sure their skin is tough enough turned into luggage or Super Mega T-Rex glue for solar cars.

Thanks Jeannie. You're right, fortunately they bounce. It was just one of those really awful moments. Knowing that people you have trusted to tell you the "truth" are knowingly doing the opposite, is somewhat painful. LIke the rug was pulled out from under ya.
